IIFA 2017 Awards | List of Winners and The IIFA Green Carpet

Neerja won the award for the best picture, Shahid Kapoor for the best actor and Alia Bhatt for best actress.The 18th edition of the celebrated IIFA 2017 Awards took over the city of New York with a dazzling awards show bringing together the biggest names of Bollywood in celebration of Indian Cinema. Alia addressed the crowd on winning the award and says “I love all of you who are sitting here so patiently, you can clap for yourself. If I could, I would give this award to all of you. She continues saying that she is very grateful to Karan Johar - who is like her father in the industry and Varun Dhawan who is a sweet friend. The talk ended with varun-alia wishing Katrina Kaif on her birthday singing Bar Bar for her”. Watch her talk about what inspires her, what she loves in New York, her mother wishing her best of luck and why she wore a sparkly dress for the event because she felt sparkling, which was a stunning creation by Zuhair Murad.

Shahid says that “He strongly believes that drugs are a huge problem that must be dealt with. He also said, with his role in Udta Punjab of Tommy Singh, he was so into it, that at one time in life, Mira has saved his name on her phone as Tommy. He says “Mira is his lucky mascot”. He also mentions that now their daughter, Misha is their love of life. Looking gorgeous in a beautiful orange gown, Mira had walked down with Shahid who was wearing the suit by Anju Madan.

Anupam Kher who won the best supporting actor says “That his dad was in forest department and this is to all those who are coming from a small place but with big dreams in their heart”.

Neha Dhupia was seen wearing an all organic dress. Dia Mirja is known for her social causes and was looking beautiful in the dress she wore. Jacky Bhagnani with Co-star Nawazzudin Siddique unveiled the first look of their film 'Carbon' which is a futuristic film set in 2067 which deals with serious environment issues and its impact on the world. From the trailer it looked like its going to be a promising watch.

Ritesh Dekhmukh says it was difficult but the most surreal experience to host in the rain during IIFA Rocks! It just floats.

Judwaa Varun Dhawan and Sallu Bhai danced to Tan Tana Tan at the IIFA Awards. Judwa 2 which stars Varun Dhawan and Salwan Khan as Cameo directed by Varun's dad "David Dhawan" will release in september. Whereas, Fitness freak Sonu Sood who runs at 4am in New York, performed an amazing fitness act on the stage where he was walking but vertically. A.R.Rahman says he treats every song as a child to him.

This year the IIFA Awards stage saw Bollywood’s most dynamic duo- the talented stars Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan- host India’s most awaited awards ceremony. The pair amazed the crowd present with their quick wit and zingers as leaving them in splits with their amusing one-liners and on-stage chemistry.

The IIFA Awards, the finale of the IIFA Weekend saw a host of stellar performances and acts. The show kicked off with Alia Bhatt performing on the Awards stage for the very first time since her debut in Bollywood five years ago. The night featured spellbinding performances by Bollywood superstars- Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon, to name a few. Bollywood’s Youth Icon, Varun Dhawan performed on the IIFA Awards stage with a stunning performance celebrating his father’s legacy in Bollywood . He also said he's very excited about Judwa 2.

This year, IIFA presented the Woman of the Year Award to actress Taapsee Pannu and The Myntra Style Icon to Alia Bhatt.

The award night included legendary actor Anil Kapoor and Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO - Viacom18 honoring A.R. Rahman for his illustrious career and work as they celebrated his 25 years in the industry. The NEXA IIFA Awards on COLORS was broadcasted on Sunday, July 16th with the Green Carpet at 6pm followed by the Awards at 7pm .

I believe MetLife stadium was the right choice for the event. Bollywood fans had arrived from New Jersey as well as New York. The stadium itself is very huge and has a seating capacity of about 80,000 people. Camera, Tripod's etc was not allowed inside the main award function. There was arrangement for keeping camera bags etc for $5. Since on both nights (IIFA rocks and IIFA 2017 awards New York) it ended by around 3-3:30 am, there was also an arrangement of UBER cab pick up point at gate E of Metlife stadium. All in all, the staffs assigned were very co-operative.

This 82,500 seat stadium, one of the largest in the National Football League, sets the standard for venue excellence with state-of-the-art technology, comfort and amenities. The only active venue to serve as the home stadium for two NFL teams, MetLife Stadium hosts 20 NFL games per season, more than any other Stadium.

People were very enthusiastic about the awards. I had reached by around 5:15 and there were still many folks at the gate to get the glimpse of their favorite stars and get their selfies. Hope is what connects one Indian to another. After all, when billions of Indians live in the tristate area, the fun is bound to happen on its own.
